General Things to always do

No matter what he emergency you will always do these things first.

  • Vitals
  • Assess the need for oxygen
  • Assess the need for radiology

Ask the patient everytime

  • Name
  • Age
  • Allergies
  • Ask where they are hurting

Vitals

  •  Blood pressure- use the blood pressure cuff
  •  Pulse and sats (oxygen levels) you can get both by putting a pulse ox on a finger
  •  Respiration's- pretend to count how many breaths per minute watching the chest rise and fall
  •  Temperature
  •  Pain (where do they hurt)

Blood pressure readings

Systolic is the upper number
Diastolic is the lower numer

Normal-  Systolic less than 120 and Diastolic less than 80  such as 118/70

Elevated    Systolic 120-129   Diastolic less than 80  (can be this high with pain)

High blood pressure (hypertension)- Systolic 130-139  Diastolic 80-89  (can be high with pain)

Hypertensive crisis-   Systolic is Higher than 180   Diastolic higher than 120
You can choose the blood pressure  you want from from this chart.

Pulse

Normal resting is 60 to 100 beats per minute

Respirations

Normal  14-18 breaths per minute

Pain

Use a pain scale 0 to 10

0 being no pain

1-3 mild pain, 4-7 moderate pain, 8, and 9 severe pain, and 10 the worse pain in the world

Oxygen

Are they having trouble breathing? Slap some one
Normal is 90% to 100%

Temperature

Normal 98.6

Radiology

Did they break a bone? Were they in a wreak? If so you need some xrays. Will cover this on another page.
