- Vitals
- Assess the need for oxygen
- Assess the need for radiology
Ask the patient everytime
- Name
- Age
- Allergies
- Ask where they are hurting
Vitals
- Blood pressure- use the blood pressure cuff
- Pulse and sats (oxygen levels) you can get both by putting a pulse ox on a finger
- Respiration's- pretend to count how many breaths per minute watching the chest rise and fall
- Temperature
- Pain (where do they hurt)
Blood pressure readings
Systolic is the upper number
Diastolic is the lower numer
Normal- Systolic less than 120 and Diastolic less than 80 such as 118/70
Elevated Systolic 120-129 Diastolic less than 80 (can be this high with pain)
High blood pressure (hypertension)- Systolic 130-139 Diastolic 80-89 (can be high with pain)
