Role play Sample for Drawing Blood

 (can change her to him if male)

Grabs the Red Tiger and Purple Tube, along with a straight needle, gloves, tourniquet, cotton ball, alcohol wipe, and band-aide placing it all on the stand next to her. Puts on her gloves. Takes the tourniquet and places it up on the upper (left/right) arm above the AC tying it off. Cleans the site with Alcohol pad.  Grabs the straight needle taking off the cap, and placing the purple tube on the end without puncturing the rubber tip. With with her other hand takes her index finger and pushes on patients arm in the AC looking for a vein. "You have nice veins. On the count of three. One, two, three." Punchers the skin and at an angle pushes until the needle enters the vein. Pushes the purple tube down and sees the blood filling the tube. When the tube is full pulls out the purple tube and pushing in the tiger tube seeing it fill with blood. When the tube is almost filled, releases  the tourniquet, pulls out the tiger tube placing it on the stand. Takes the cotton pall placing it over where the needle entered the vein and pulls out the needle promptly putting in the sharps container. Applies pressure for a minute then adds a band-aide. Gently shakes the tubes of blood and heads for the lab.
